SlideSieve is a slide extraction tool built for learners, researchers, and professionals. We collect only the absolute minimum data required to operate the product and support users. We never sell your personal data — ever.
Who we are
SlideSieve is an independent product. When we say "we", "us", or "SlideSieve" in this policy, we mean the team behind SlideSieve. For questions, reach us at support [at] slidecapture [dot] com.
What data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide our service:
- Contact Information (Optional) — your email address, only if you voluntarily provide it when submitting feedback or contacting support.
- Device Quota & License State — an anonymous, random device installation identifier (install ID) and aggregate capture counts used to verify free trial quotas and license activation status. This state contains no personal details, video titles, or user browsing history.
- Feature Interaction Analytics (Optional) — aggregated, anonymous interaction events (such as button clicks, paywall views, and export actions) to help us diagnose issues and optimize product usability. No personally identifying information, lecture content, or video streams are ever transmitted.
- Error Reports — anonymized technical error logs to help diagnose and resolve application crashes. These do not contain personal information or video content.
Videos and slides
Your videos and extracted slides are processed entirely in your browser via the SlideSieve Chrome extension. Videos you process and slides you generate are never sent to our servers. SlideSieve does not store, transmit, or have access to the content of your videos or slides.
How we use your data
- To enforce free trial slide and transcript budgets and manage license activations
- To improve the product using aggregated, anonymous usage analytics
- To diagnose and fix technical issues and bugs
- To respond to support requests you send us
Where your data is stored
Since SlideSieve operates entirely locally, your extracted slides are stored locally on your device within your browser's IndexedDB storage. You have full control over this data. Any anonymous analytics and quota verifications are stored securely by our cloud infrastructure.
Data retention
- Local slide data — retained in your browser until you clear your extension data or uninstall the extension.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregate, anonymous form.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage for core functionality. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data to third parties
- We never access or store the content of your videos or slides
- We never use your data for advertising or profiling
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of SlideSieve after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
